He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Maryland in College Park, during which he provided medical care for the Baltimore Ravens. After his fellowship, he worked as the head team physician for the University of Maryland and as the team orthopedist for the Baltimore Ravens. Today, Dr. Crites is the team physician for the Iowa Wolves, the Iowa Barnstormers, and Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

Dr. Crites is board certified in sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and holds three-part National Board of Examiners and two-part American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons certifications.
