On-site Diagnostic Testing

On-site diagnostic testing — like an X-ray, MRI or EMG — is available at our Clive, Iowa, location. That saves you from making a separate appointment at another facility. And the results go directly to your Capital Ortho physician, so you can get answers faster.

We also have the ability to access existing imaging tests through the PAC system. PACS is a medical imaging technology that allows us to view testing images electornically.

Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, is a common non-invasive and painless procedure that creates detailed images of the bones, joints and soft tissues within the body. An MRI may be used to examine injuries or abnormalities of the joints.

Our MRI facility is located within our Clive, Iowa, building. If you have an MRI scheduled with us, please review this patient checklist for MRI in advance. That will help your test go as smoothly as possible.

An X-ray is a quick, painless test that creates images of the inside your body — particularly your bones. X-rays are used to examine bone fractures and signs of arthritis. Our X-ray machine is located in our Clive, Iowa, office. Often, your X-ray can be done during your appointment — in just a few minutes — so the physician can review the results immediately.

Electromyography, or EMG, is a diagnostic test that physicians use to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them. The test measures the electrical activity of muscles and can find the cause of weakness, paralysis, or muscle twitching.

During an EMG, a thin, unobtrusive needle electrode is inserted directly into the muscle. This records the electrical activity in that muscle while it’s at rest and while it’s being used.
