Michael Nguyen, MD, is a skilled primary care and sports medicine physician joining the team at Capital Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, PC. He is proud to serve patients at the practice’s location in Clive, Iowa.
Dr. Nguyen completed his undergraduate studies in Vancouver, British Columbia. He earned his medical degree at the Saba University School of Medicine in Saba, Netherlands Antilles. Dr. Nguyen completed his residency at Northeast Iowa Family Medicine Residency in Waterloo, Iowa, in 2011, and after a year working as an emergency physician in Waverly and Grundy Center, Iowa, he decided to go back and get his sports medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai-Atlantic Health in Morristown, New Jersey. Dr. Nguyen also holds a master’s degree in epidemiology, statistics, and hyperbaric medicine.
Dr. Nguyen started up the Orthopaedic Urgent Care at CNOS in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, and has been practicing there since 2013, taking over as the Orthopaedic Urgent Care Director in 2015. He is excited to assist Capital Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, PC in building their own Orthopaedic Urgent Care Strategy as he and his family relocate to the Des Moines area. In addition to the development of the Orthopaedic Urgent Care, Dr. Nguyen will assist the team with their coverage of local sports teams.
Dr. Nguyen will work alongside all Capital Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, PC physicians to treat urgent, walk-in injuries as well as concussions, platelet-rich plasma, and ultrasound-guided interventions for various injuries. This service will act as another referral option for all area providers, urgent care facilities, and patients for access to convenient care.
